Grounding

Grounding, sometimes referred to as earthing, is a technique that reconnects your energy to the natural electrical charges of Mother Earth in order stabilise yourself.

When you are able to walk barefoot upon the ground, your body absorbs natural free electrons. Electrons are natures antioxidants which can help neutralise free radicals within the body. Free radicals can cause serious long-term health problems such as inflammatory or cardiovascular diseases.  Grounding will not only improve your overall mental well-being, but will reduce pain, stress and inflammation. Grounding is good for the mind, body and soul.

When you are unable to ground yourself daily, you become 'ungrounded'. When you are ungrounded, you can struggle to keep your focus and be easily distracted. Furthermore, your brain can go into over-drive, think too much, worry excessively or experience over-sensitivity. Physically, you may experience poor sleep and be constantly tired. When you are grounded you feel well, happy, energised and focused.

I highly recommend that you ground yourself each morning so you can get the best out of each day. Here are a few suggestions on how you can ground yourself:-

  • Visualise roots and or vines growing from the soles of your feet and going down into the heart Mother Earth

  • Mindful Walking. Simply walk and stay present within your environment

  • Walking barefoot, particularly on grass or sand

  • Feet Awareness. Place all of your awareness on your feet, especially the soles, for no less than 30 seconds, all the while, noticing any sensations that you feel. This can be done either sitting or standing.

  • Work with crystals such as Flint, Red Jasper, Petrified Wood, Smoky Quartz, Tourmaline and Hematite
